VENEZUELAN COCOA BEANS

Origin: Venezuela (Geographical Regional Diversity)
Venezuela is not only the cradle of cocoa but a mosaic of microclimates producing unique sensory profiles. At Nenea C.A., we select beans from the country's most iconic regions, ensuring each lot preserves its genetic and regional identity.

GEOGRAPHIC ORIGINS

Central Region (Coastal Cocoa)

Includes the legendary beans from Chuao, Ocumare, and Choroní. These are Criollo and hybrid types, world-renowned for their elegance, citric acidity, and persistent floral aromas.

Western Region (Southern Lake)

Home of the Porcelana Cocoa (the purest Criollo in the world). These beans are characterized by their extra-light color, extra-fine flavor, and distinct notes of nuts and cream, with almost zero bitterness.

Eastern Region

Covering Sucre (Paria) and Monagas. Produces robust hybrid cocoa with sharp notes of sweet fruits, tobacco, and damp earth, highly valued for its balance and body.

Plains and Foothills (Llanos & Pie de Monte)

Cocoas with balanced profiles, ideal for industrial processes that require consistency and a deep, traditional chocolate flavor.

Amazonian Region

We find the original Amazonian Forastero cocoa, with great genetic vigor and intense notes, essential for developing new flavor profiles.

GENETIC TYPES

CRIOLLO

The "jewel in the crown." Represents less than 5% of global production. Distinguished by its white seed, fruity aroma, and extreme delicacy on the palate.

HYBRID

A hybrid combining the finesse of Criollo with the resilience of Forastero. Venezuela's most versatile cocoa, offering complex flavors ranging from fruity to spicy.

FORASTERO

Beans with higher tannin and fat content provide strength, color, and the "classic" chocolate character.
